All enrolled Tribal Members who have completed High School or who have obtained their GED are eligible for financial assistance through the Student Aid Program should they desire to continue their education after high school.

Upon initial application, the applicant must:

  1. Provide a copy of high school or GED diploma or transcript.
  2. Provide documentation showing that they have completed the FAFSA application (online application at fafsa.edu.gov). Please be sure you are on the right website. If you are asked to send money for your FAFSA, you are in the wrong place. Exit out and go to the “.gov” address.
  3. The student must complete the Student Aid Program application and submit it to this office two to three weeks prior to their program start date. The application can be accessed on the Tribal website under departments. Choose Scholarships and follow the prompts. If filing the application electronically, student must print name followed by the last four digits of the student’s Social Security number where a signature is required.

Once the student has been approved and has received their Scholarship award, the student must provide copies of their tuition receipt, book receipts and class schedules. At the end of the term, the student must provide a copy of their official grade report or a copy of their transcript.

Students must earn a 2.0 GPA each term to remain in “Good Standing” with this program. Any student earning between a 1.5 to 1.9 GPA will be placed on Scholastic Probation and any student receiving below a 1.5 will be placed on Suspension. Please view complete guidelines for more details on GPA regulations. The guidelines and application packets are posted there. If the student chooses to submit the application electronically, the student must type his/her full name and the last four digits of his/her Social Security number as the electronic signature in all required locations of the application.

All issues must be resolved and the term closed out prior to the student receiving subsequent scholarship assistance. It is in the student’s best interest to get all required documents submitted in a timely manner so as to minimize the time needed to fund subsequent terms.
