Any person, who is a descendant of an enrolled member of the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana, has never been enrolled and would like to apply for tribal membership, should contact the Enrollment Officer at the Chitimacha Enrollment Office. An enrollment application will be mailed to the applicant for completion. This original application must be mailed back to the Chitimacha Enrollment office along with an original or a notarized copy of the applicant’s birth certificate and a copy of his/her social security card.

A standard application fee shall be paid to the Chitimacha Enrollment Officer at the time of the filing of the completed application and prior to lineage research being conducted to determine eligibility of Chitimacha Tribal Membership. These funds shall be deemed non-refundable should the individual not qualify for enrollment with the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana.
