The mission of the Chitimacha Finance Department is to accurately report the financial position to all parties with a vested interest in the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana. Within the scope of this mission are responsibilities to:

• Develop, monitor and enforce policies and procedures created to safeguard the Tribe's assets
• Provide Tribal Council with financial information on a timely and meaningful basis to aid in their decision making process
• Accurately process the financial transactions in conformity with accounting principles set forth by government agencies, auditors, grantors, etc.
• Disburse funds in a timely, accurate and reliable manner to employees, Tribal members, vendors and creditors
• Prepare financial reports to satisfy the reporting requirements of various entities such as IRS, grantors, state and federal agencies
